Optical Engineers use principles of optics and photonic devices and components to design and build a wide range of optical systems and instruments with applications in consumer optics, precision metrology, laser assisted processing, including 3D printers and other systems with applications in Biomedical, Precision Engineering, Nanotechnology, Marine and Offshore, Sports and others. This course will give you an introduction to this field and enable you to understand and implement the enabling technology of the 21st century. The lectures will be interspersed with novel examples of current optical systems ranging from the ubiquitous digital camera to the Kinect for X-box to Digital Holography based systems.

Topics include

Geometric Optics
Wave Optics
Photonics
