Short course on Optical Engineering - 2019
Optical engineering is now commonplace in a variety of industrial systems and processes. The advent of novel electro-optics (photonics) devices such as laser diodes and LEDs coupled with advances in sensors and detectors have resulted in numerous commercial systems ranging from consumer items to precise optical metrological tools for inspections and measurement to 3D Additive Manufacturing. This course aims to introduce important basic concepts in Optical Engineering that would enable better understanding of the underlying principles of various optical systems for them to be suitably designed, fabricated, improved and modified. The course comprises three modules that highlight basic optical principles with emphasis on physical concepts with suitable applications and demonstrations. Organized by the Optics and Photonics Society of Singapore |
Basic Optical Engineering Course
Optical Engineers use principles of optics together with photonic devices and components to design and build a wide range of optical systems and instruments with applications in consumer optics, precision metrology, laser assisted processing, including 3D printers and other systems with applications in Biomedical, Precision Engineering, Nanotechnology, Marine and Offshore, Sports and others. This course will give you an introduction to this field and enable you to understand and implement the enabling technology of the 21st century. The lectures will be interspersed with novel examples of current optical systems ranging from the ubiquitous digital camera to the Kinect for X-box to Digital Holography based systems. Lecturer: Prof. Anand Asundi, Director - COLE, Chairman - OPSS Location: Fusion@MAE, NTU (Block N3.1-B3c-06) Map Date: October 11, 2017 Time: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Registration: $1000 (10% discount to OPSS, SPETA and Consortium members) Register | Syllabus | Contact |
